Director's Greeting

Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Gwangju Alzheimer's & Related Dementia (GARD) Cohort.

Dementia is no longer a challenge for individuals or single families alone — it is one our whole society must prepare for together. GARD builds a large community-based cohort and integrates clinical, genomic, brain-imaging and biospecimen data to create the scientific evidence to predict and prevent dementia before symptoms appear.

Building on the valuable data accumulated with our participants over many years, we study early-diagnosis technologies and prevention and intervention strategies in collaboration with research institutions at home and abroad. All of this work points toward a single goal: a society free from dementia.

We will continue to place scientific rigor, research ethics, and respect for our participants first as we work to overcome dementia. We ask for your continued interest and support. Thank you.
